2015-06-23: Weekly Update
I will be short and sweet: this is the last week to buy Sig pistols at pre-MAP pricing, and take advantage of Savage rebate offer.
Sig Sauer MAP
As I pointed out before, Sig institutes minimum advertising pricing starting July 1st. This means that most of its firearms will have
certain minimum for advertising. Retailers will not be able to advertise Sig guns for less. Technically, they can be sold for less, but it
is unclear how would consumers learn about price - and doing this on the Internet is more or less impossible.
This means pretty significant effective price hikes on most Sig Sauer pistols in the very immediate future. For example, the two we have in stock, Sig P229 Extreme
((currently unavailable)) and P290RS Extreme ((currently unavailable))
will go to $1099.99 and $399.99 respectively.
We have a really sweet deal on the P229 in particular (wholesale price of this gun is $870, and remember that when you are buying it at our store, there is
neither shipping nor transfer costs), so this would be a good time to pick one up.
Savage rebate
Every January Savage raises its prices, and institutes a rebate program to soften the blow. This year's program expires on 6/30. The amount
of rebate is $100 on models 10 and 12, $50 and Savage AXIS HB, and $25 on rimfire rifles.
Savage's claim to fame is the amazing accuracy that their rifles achieve right out of the box. Though most benchrest guns are built on a
Remington action, one has to replace everything else on a Remington rifle to get it to shoot straight (700p and 5r rifles are the notable exception
from this rule), and true the action itself. Savages are extremely accurate as delivered.
Here are a few reviews of my Savages.
One rifle that deserves a special notice is 10fcp-sr ((currently unavailable)). This has just started shipping, and only one of our distributors got it.
This model a lot in common with the famous 10TR. They have a threaded muzzle, ready to accommodate
a suppressor. They come with the rail. They have the oversized bolt handle. They come in Accustock, and, obviously, the design incorporates
the Accutrigger. As an improvement over 10TR they have a 10rd box magazine and a fluted barrel.
