Weekly Update @ Precise Shooter - 2016-05-03
Happy May Day!
We have a bunch of new arrivals to celebrate the coming summer - the best season for shooting.
Magazines
Our collection of magazines was not amazing for a while, and we decided to improve it - and improve it we did!
After a massive purchase last week we have almost 800 magazines in stock, for over a hundred guns.
We are planning a similar expansion in our holster section - we grew our inventory many fold over the
last several weeks, and we are expecting a big shipment from a new supplier - check our website for announcement soon!
New goods
We have added another importer of gun parts and accessories, and thus a new array of inexpensive parts and optics.
In particular, they have a clone of Bushnell TRS-25 (GET4637) which a number of people in the local gun community have tried and really liked. We priced it at one quarter
of the price of the real thing. This should be really a no-brainer.
Also, you should check out GET4633 - this sight is similar to Buckmark, except it is much cheaper and
has 4 reticles in two colors - red and green.
We also really liked their AK side mount - fantastic quality, and the price is
Leupold scopes
Leupold has recently discontinued a few models, and we were able to buy them at blowout prices - hence a few
fantastic deals on a bunch of scopes.
Benchrest optics
If you are building a benchrest rifle of your dream, you owe it to yourself to look at T-36 by Weaver and 36x42BRD by Sightron.
These are very similar, except Weaver has a side focus. I own all of them, as well as Leupold 45x45. If I knew about T-36/x36 before I bought Leupold, I would not
have done it. This is great glass - every bit as good as the Leupold - at one third to one half of the price.
This is what one of my favorite sources of information on benchrest shooting, 6mmbr, has to say about them.
Weaver T-36
Pros: Low cost, excellent tracking and repeatability. Positive 1/8 moa clicks. Simple, effective front AO parallax adjustment. Weaver claims 60 moa of windage and elevation. T-36s usually hold up well over many seasons. Silver finish available.
Cons: Small exit pupil. A bit less bright than the Sightron 36x. Unit to unit quality variance in the glass. We've looked at a few older T-36s that were cloudy and dim, but the vast majority are very good now. Try to look through a few before you buy.
OVERALL: A fine scope for the money. Much better value than the Leupold Competitions, with more reliable tracking (no modifications required). Neck and neck with the Sightron. Differences between individual T-36 units may be greater than differences between Weaver and Sightron.
Sightron 36x42BRD
Pros: Tracking is very solid. Image is sharp with good contrast. A good scope for the money. It has 50 moa of elevation, more than the B&L 36x or the Leupold Competitions. Warranty is now lifetime.
Cons: Small exit pupil. Front AO parallax adjustment is not as smooth as the older B&Ls. Some reliability complaints with older models, but recent upgrades seem to have solved the problems. Sightrons are catching on--we're seeing them on many winning BR guns used by top competitors.
OVERALL: BEST BUY in a fixed-power target scope.
Guns
Quite a few new arrivals last week.
We have MOLOT Vepr-12 shotguns ((currently unavailable)) - this is a better
Saiga-12 than Saiga-12 - in fact, this is probably the best AK-style shotgun on the market today.
We also have just received an Inland M1 carbine ((currently unavailable)).
The true milsurplus guns are now rather expensive - and in collectable configurations,
exorbitantly expensive,
so if you are looking for a shooter, here's a new rifle, under warranty, and it looks, feels, and functions exactly
like the famous M1 did - and even have the right name on it!
CZ guns are known for their unreal accuracy, which is why we specialize in them. This 557 Varmint
((currently unavailable)) has a beautiful walnut stock, a 26" heavy barrel, has an absolutely
unreal trigger, and is built on the famous 550 action. It is basically the CZ750,
except for a LOT less money - and much more beautiful stock!
We received one Yugoslavian M48 Mauser. The exterior of the rifle is in fantastic condition - perfect blueing, excellent
stock, matching numbers (some overstamps). The bore is dark but has strong rifling and is very shootable (see
here about impact of the bore condition on the
accuracy). A nice addition to your collection, for only $299.95.
