This week @ Precise Shooter (2016-11-11)

Happy Veteran's Day!

Politics

Second, I am happy to announce that Brady Walkinshaw has lost the race for the House seat in District 7. Brady is a rabit anti-gun activist who sponsored nearly every piece of antigun legislation in WA legislature. I would like to think that at least a part of his loss can be attributed to seattle's gun community.

Sadly, much of the rest of the election results are not so fantastic. I-1491, AKA "the Ex Revenge Act", has been approved by almost 82% of the voters. Bob Ferguson, one of the major pushers for "Assault Weapons" ban in the state, and who has also filed an amicus brief for Seattle Gun tax, has been reelected to his post as Attorney General by a similar margin.

Things are even worse in California, where Proposition 63 - requiring background checks on purchase of ammunition - passed by 63%. Yes, they will have background checks on purchasing ammunition!

The same proposition now bans possession of "large capacity" magazines under penalty of a fine and imprisonment after July 1, 2017. The current magazines are not grandfathered - they have to be either surrendered to moved out of state.

You can read this whole horrendous thing here.

Of course, California was always horrible when it comes to gun laws, but do you know how many people move from San Francisco area to Seattle area every year? Quite a few. And do you know what they bring with them? Their gun attitudes.

EDIT: People pointed out that this sounds somewhat xenophobic towards CA transplants. It was not meant that way, and I apologize for the message that could be easily misread. What I was trying to say (see the link below) that we need to focus on educating people about guns, or we will end up just like California. Again - the see link below the graphic.

What can you do about it? See here.

Thanksgiving

On a more positive note, distributors have started discounting merchandize for Thanksgiving, and we have started receiving the goods at discounted prices.

Some of the deals are described below, and more we will announce next week - certain ammunition brand will have very, VERY deep discounts via coupons. We are also getting a few Browning Black Label pistols, and a few Savage rifles which will be absolutely fantastically priced for the holidays.

Check back often - you will not be disappointed!

As a side note, we will be closed on Thanksgiving and the day after Thanksgiving (Black Friday). Our employees work really hard and deserve some rest. We will reopen on Saturday and will be open on Sunday according to our normal schedule. There will be limited time specials on these two days that you will not want to miss - plan accordingly :-).

Cool optics

As art of the holiday extravaganza, we have an absolutely KILLER deal on Burris Prism series optics. This will be available everywhere from Burris starting on Thanksgiving, as mail-in free goods, but we have an early start - and we have the deal combination - two optics for the price of one - available RIGHT NOW!

The deal is on Burris AR-332 ((currently unavailable)) and AR-536 ((currently unavailable)) both of which come with a free FastFire 3 with 3MOA reticle and picatinny mount included for free. These typically sell on the Internet and in our store for over $200.

We also have a sweet, sweet deal on Trijicon ACOG TA31F - Red, 223 - ($1,199.95 (1 in stock)) - this is basically THE Red Dot sight for your AR-15, really the best in class. Optics Planet and most other Internet retailers sell them for over $1250 as of this writing.

FN Five-seveN

This gun does not really need an introduction, but if you are not familiar with it, you owe it to yourself to read this. Mine is fantastic, tons of joy to shoot. Last time we had it in stock a year and a half ago.

Price: (currently unavailable)

We also have a cool holster for it by Galco ((currently unavailable)), and lots of ammunition, accessories, and reloading equipment.

Witnesses!

If you have read the last week's update, you know that we have acquired a few Witness pistols, and I have since taken them to the range. This is the first magazine (15 rounds) out of the 9mm Witness ((currently unavailable)).

The bulls eye is 2".

This was with my reloads, 25 yards, supported. Note that this is one group, I need to shoot it a lot more to accumulate the statistics.

I also shot Witness Hunter in 45ACP ((currently unavailable)) - and for this one, I accumulated a statistically significant sample, so I can talk about it with a greater authority. With the right ammunition, the pistol is incredibly accurate!

The target below is 25 round group shot from 25 yards (from supported position), with Federal Gold Medal Match ammunition. The group measured 2.8" across. The target right next to it is my Les Baer Premier II with 1.5" accuracy guarantee. This was shot from the same position and the same ammunition. It is a 20 round group. You can see that the groups are very similar in size, even though Witness is less than half the price.

Another thing that I thought was quite amazing was a very mild recoid from the Hunter. Even shooting a very hot Nosler Match - which is so hot that Les Baer cannot shoot it at all - the recoil was barely felt. Shooting less hot ammunition feels like shooting 9mm from a medium-frame pistol.

On the other hand, I also tried both Large Frame 22lr conversion kit on Witness Hunter, and Small Frame 22lr conversion kit on Witness 9mm. Both kits produced multiple failures to fire and failures to eject, especially on Witness hunter. If you are new to 22lr conversion kits, I recommend waiting for me to complete the testing before buying one.

Surplus guns!

Our supply of surplus guns have temporarily dried up after Seattle adopted its infamous policy of destroying police surplus guns rather than reselling them. We have now gotten a new distributor with a better access to police surplus equipment, so our inventory has improved dramatically!

AR-15 parts

We are getting a very, very large shipment of AR-15 parts next week - from three companies (the total is over $20000 in wholesale cost). Almost everything that was out of stock will be replenished - except for the lower receivers, these are still incredibly difficult to get.

Since you probably overstocked on the receivers for the election season, you might as well do something useful with them!
